    A reviewer

With every page of this beautifully written memoir the reader gets a clear vision of what life was like for the young bohemians living in the Village in the early 60's. Suze Rotolo writes at the end of her book that the bohemia of Greenwich Village is gone forever, but she takes the reader back in such a way that one can almost smell the smokey haze that hovered over the bar at the Gaslight. She writes deeply of her love for Dylan and how she had to leave him to save herself. I recommend this book not only to those interested in Dylan, but also to those who are interested in a slice of history. It is told through the eyes of a talented and sensitive young woman who is as interesting a character herself as any of those she writes about in this book.

Not as good as I expected.

I love the time period and also am quite fond of Dylan. I could not even finish this book as it seemed to drag. Maybe I will finish it one day but not now.

    lots of fun

Brought me back in time, many of the people from my generation, want to think that the 70s were an easy time. When you read a book like this, you realize that yes those years were simpler from the technology stand point. But not easy, now days as Americans many want to forget about the drama surrounding McCarthyism and the Vietnam war. Thank goodness for authors like Suze who are courageous enough to share with the world, and not let the truths of that period be forgotten. The funny thing is that, before I read this book I did not like Bob Dylan's music. After reading the book "Freewheelin' Time", I can now appreciate Dylan's music because I know what was behind it when he wrote it. A relaxing and fun read, great for a lazy weekend.

    I Also Recommend:

    Great Book About Greenwich Village!

Suze gives a great overview of what Greenwich Village was like in the late 50's and early 60's. She also writes the Liner notes for an album called The Village that also gives great insight to the Folk NY Scene.
