I earned an M.A.in Communications for Film Studies
This is book is the missing link of my education. While Dov makes the point that he is not teaching aesthetics, what he IS teaching is invaluable. This is for anyone who wants to go from theory to reality. Excellent.

From Reel to Deal: Everything You Need to Create a Successful Independent Film
Here's an insider's secret. I have directed 13 features for Roger Corman and New Line Distributor. I am a pro and this book is absolutely amazing. It took me 8 years and 6 films under my belt to learn the nuts-and-bolts and secrets-and-tricks that Dov gives in just the first 40 pages of the book. I can't recommend it enough for any first-timer or wannabe.

From Reel to Deal: Everything You Need to Create a Successful Independent Film
The book is superb. Don't waste $120,000 at a film school. Dov Simens, the author, has an amazing grasp on explaining everything from Screenwriting, to Financing, to Directing, to lighting to Shooting, to Distributing so that any first-timer can understand it. The book is truly worth $120,000 not the retail price of $17.95. Thank you Dov!

From Reel to Deal: Everything You Need to Create a Successful Independent Film
Hollywood and filmmaking was always a mystery to me. Then I read this book and it was as if the fog was lifted. I understand how the business of Filmmaking works, I understand how I may enter this business, and I understand what I exactly must do to succeed as either a Screenwriter, Producer or Director. The book was truly worth the money. Matter of fact it saved me up to 4 years at a film school. Thank you Mr author.

Amazing Filmmaking Info!
For 12 years I've heard about this guy Dov Simens and his revolutionary independent filmmaking teaching style. Everyone I run into that has taken his 2-Day Film School course has raved about it and now I discover that he wrote a book. Well, let me tell you the book is absolutely FRICKIN' GREAT. After reading this book I can't understand why anyone wastes 4-years and almost $100,000 bucks on some ridiculous film school. I thought I knew something about filmmaking being a videographer who graduated from NYU film school in 1986. However, now I realize how little film school taught me that is REAL. Thank you Dov. The book put everything together for me and I now feel totally comfortable on Producing, Writing and Directing my first independent low-budget feature. If anyone is thinking about wither Producing, Directing or Writing and doesn't buy this book then you are a fool. This is the greatest $17.95 investment I ever made.

The Guru of Filmmaking books
Dov's Book is his famous 2 day filmschool all wrapped up into one small book. It's awesome because for me, since I travel a lot It's like carrying Dov around with me where ever I go. If I have a question to ask him I can just refer to the book. It's perfect. You can get all the information now in the book. He breaks it down into a very easy to read book and discusses the essential information for a first time filmmaker and even for experienced filmmakers. That's why I highly recommend the book and the class to my partners. This is not just good information on filmmaking it's absolutely essential information for low budget independent filmmakers who just want the basic facts on how to get a film in the can at the lowest possible cost and make money with it. From Reel To Deal is for me like the Bible of Filmmaking. Thanks Dov.
