    Good Informative Reading

One of the best cruise books I have read. I heartily recommend it. For cruise information it is a MUST BUY.

It is written in two sections.

The book goes into detail about the different cruise lines, provides detailed examples. There is a discussion about the various classes of ships. The book pretty closely matches my experience with the ships I've been on, so I assume they are equally accurate about the ships I have not yet sailed.

The next section is a description of the common ports. Also reviewed are cruise excursions available.

A very good read. Well written.

This book is best for general cruise advice because of the discussions about all of the ship,s, cruise lines, and ports. A good resource for someone deciding which cruise to take.

It is less than perfect for someone who has already selected a ship and itinerary. The information provided lacks that specific level of detail.

    Cruises and Ports of Call

I cruised in 2007 and wanted to get an update of cruise life now, especially focusing on the new ship Carnival Dream. Unfortuately, the book did describe the Royal Carribean Oasis but nothing about the Dream so that was disappointing.

Although I found the book informative, it was not as in-depth as perhaps I would have liked.

My biggest wish was for an in-depth review of shore excursions both by what is available through the cruiseline and should you go it alone. I would have loved to see shore excursion comparisons and descriptions I found myself no more well-informed than if I had looked at the cruise brochure.

In all, the book gives you a very general overview. If you are looking for particulars, this would not be the way to go.
