    Uruki vs. Tamahome

This story is about a girl who has recently lost her mother and found out that her father resented having a daughter in the first place. She was so upset about her dad just thinking about his work and nothing else even now that her mother has passed. Out of hatred, she tries to rip up the book he's been working on, 'The Universe of the Four Gods'. What she thought was an ordinary book was actually a magical one. And she gets sucked into its pages the moment she opened it :] Ok now she has met this guy Limdo a.k.a. Uruki ,that's his celestial warrior name, and I just can't decide which 'prince charming' is better, him or Tamahome! Ah...Both guys are sweet and completely cares about thier priestess the same amount. It kinda makes you jealous of both Miaka and Takiko. It's an outstanding story! Yuu Watase, if you ever read this :] Thanks for making Fushigi Yuugi!

    miaka vs. takiko

Having read through all of the Fushigi Yugi series, I can say that Genbu Kaiden which chronicles the journey of the very first turning out to be a much better story than I thought. I find the main character, Takiko Okuda to be a lot deeper and multi-dimensional. Miaka seemed more vapid and dense, her problems consisted of trying to please her mom and try to get into the junior high school she was expected to. Takiko is something else, someone I find an easier time relating to. She is saddened by the death of her mother, she's an outsider because she is different and and a forward thinker and she feels that her father, rejects her. When she is sucked into the Universe of the Four Gods, her journey and growth begins. She falls in love but she sees a greater destiny, her desire to be needed propels her forward. Unlike Miaka, Takiko, right from the start experience tragedy after tragedy as people she loves or tries to help her, dies. Maybe I just admire her more for her ability to move forward. I also love the complexities of the celestial warriers she's collected thus far. As much as I like her love interest, Uruki...I find that my favorite warrior so far is the 'rock giant' introduced in volume 3. I can't wait to get to volume 4.
