    EXCELLENT AS ALWAYS!

Grafton NEVER fails us and this one is particularly intriguing. Once you read one of her books its like eating potato chips -- you can't quit! I hope she starts on AA, BB or something when she gets to Z on this batch. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK Sue -- we love you.

"G" is for Gumshoe is: A rich, complex, and gripping

    "G" is for Gumshoe is:

A rich, complex, and gripping tale in which Kinsey's grit is tested to its utmost as she unearths the gruesome truth about a long-buried betrayal and, in the process, comes face-to-face with the grisly fact of her own mortality. "G" is for guilt and guile, for greed and grief and the Grim Reaper. And "G" is for good: very, very good indeed.

    G is for Gripping

Kinsey's life is at stake as a result of an old case and she finds herself in precarious position as she tries to solve a new one. All this occurs with the backdrop of a budding romance. One of my favorites from the alphabet series.

This entire series is a fun mystery series. They are all worth reading.

Kinsey is a tenacious, realistic PI. It is interesting to watch her unfold the story through the notecards she writes on each case. The characters in the story are very believable. It is a fun and quick read.

    Creepier than previous Grafton books.

Two killers and a hot bodyguard make for nonstop action and suspense in this novel. Both killers are horrible; one is creepy and the other savage. Good read.

    Best of the bunch

This is the one that convinced me Grafton was for real. The "A" book was kind of a snooze, but once she got to G she hit her stride.

    Two Stories in One

This was a great mystery. Kinsey is asked to find a elderly mother of a neurotic client. Kinsey also finds out she is being hunted my a psycho hitman. She meets new boyfriend Dietz, a private eye who has been asked to play bodyguard. They work great together: she does what she wants and he mans in out. He's not the best bodyguard in the world because I could figure out how he kept following Kinsey. There is a little too much filler, but I liked the way the story of the mother unfolded.

    I Also Recommend:

G is for Grafton, G is for Great Mystery

What I like about G is for Gumshoe, is that every story Grafton writes, it unfolds itself always in the end, and at the same time leaving something very personal that always attaches itself to Kinsey. Forget the mystery, forget the plot, is always great. What makes the Millhone's series unique, is that as a reader, the novel is not forgotten after is read. If someone has put a hit on Kinsey, How can someone do that to Kinsey? In seven books, Grafton has expressed herself in the eyes of Kinsey Millhone, a woman that we like very much. G is for Gumshoe is great mystery at its best, in the seventh installment of the Millhone's series, Sue Grafton takes readers back to the world of the best P.I. In Santa Teresa, California. Kinsey Millhone. "Two weeks before Kinsey's birthday,Tyrone Patty now living in a county jail, has approached another inmate on a contract murder plot involving Kinsey, A public defender, a district attorney, and a judge" And as Kinsey's luck goes, Tyrone got himself a great deal, a hitman charged him only five thousand dollars for the job. G is for Gumshoe, doesn't disappoint readers, featuring a fascinating plot, along with the same exquisite flavor of different characters. Grafton is at her best. Dealing with one of the wisest hitman, Kinsey has met. And at the same time being hired by Mrs Clyde Gersh to bring her mother back from the Mojave Desert, Kinsey will start one the most dangerous adventures of her career as a P. I. The one that will bring her closer to her own death. The fact that all these novels took place in the eighties, is just a mystifying luxury. Grafton is great in detailing and describing characters, The way she describes places, and people, as if she was taking you there, it is just magnificent. I wish I could say more, but I don't want to give it away, It is that Good.

    'Gumshoe' Gets The Gold

Folks - if you only read one Grafton book, let it be 'G is for Gumshoe.' The novel turns the tables on Kinsey and instead of the hunter, Ms. Millhone becomes the hunted. Think, 'The Bodyguard' meets 'James Bond.' Okay, that's a stretch, but this book has it all; romance, suspense, mystery and action. Grafton typically includes one or more of these elements in her books, but never with such skill as she has in 'Gumshoe.' Without a doubt, 'Gumshoe' gets the gold.
