Chesterton at his best fictional/detective writing.
I am on his train being taken to places and experiences that I have never been before. The train makes some very obvious stops and some stops that I could have never imagined. At the stops not imagined I recognize that the train has gone somewhere that I did not expect and my new thoughts as to where we are going are probably not where we will actually end up.
So is the story of the Ball and the Cross. I had to put it down for things like going to bed, to eat, to work... such distractions are good for the story line because... I just needed a good break.
I was tempted to give hints of the train and the thoughts that came with the story... No, just enjoy it for yourselves.
