    Great Read

When baseball players, former or active, write books they have become somewhat predictable in the subjects they cover. Not necessarily in a bad way, but predictable none the less. Glanville recounts his 9 year career in a way that fills in some of the voids others have left out in their books. How players setup their housing for the season, what its like to get a phone call from the GM telling them they've been traded & how the logistics of how they get moved to the city they've just been traded to. The perception of players guests at games and in the "green room" in the stadium for players families and friends. Pecking order for jersey numbers. He tells of how a player can still advance even if he doesn't see eye to eye with his manager in AAA. How baseball glove contracts are awarded and what it exactly is to have a company sponsor you. I had a hard time putting this book down and I hope this isn't the only book Glanville authors.

    Fair more than Foul

I'm always interested in stories and views from players, coaches, etc. from inside the game. Doug Glanville was always a great player to watch, because of his professionalism. He appears to treat his new profession as journalist with the same demeanor. Very straightforward.
