Love the series! Too bad that you can currently buy 4 books for 19.97 and ebooks are running 29.99. I begin to think my nook purchase was a mistake.

These are great books. I hate putting them down! But I would recommend spending a little extra and buying each book separately, if you're reading them on a nook. This "box set" has all four books as one file, so you have 3500+ pages in your nook book. That makes navigating with the page number slider very imprecise. And there are so many details in these books that I often wanted to go back and find another chapter, but it was just too much hassle. Might be better read in paper format, but at least having each as a separate nook book would be a big help.

    Starts strong, but then......

The first book is simply fantastic. The character development is as good as any book or series that I have read in years. The plot twists keep you guessing yet maintain the degree of plausibility necessary to discerning readers. The second book is a bit more gritty with the sex and language. I had scoffed at that when I had read that complaint in other reviews, but even as a 26year US Navy Veteran... some of the scenes/dialog made me raise an eyebrow. By the third and even more so in the fourth book, you need a full cross-reference chart to keep track of all the plots, sub-plots and family ties. That was one of the strong points in the first book, but it became so deep that the main focus of the story is lost in the open-ended mire. Additionally, by the second half of the series, there are plot twists that seem to be in there just to add a twist. (Sort of like a Michael Bay film... things a bit slow? lets blow something up...) Some of the twists did not pass plausibility test to me either. All in all, I could not put the first two down. The third and fourth I read, because I wanted to find the end... Alas, the end may be in book five...

    Excellent Series

After reading part of the series via Nook delivery (I'm working my way through Book 3), I have decided to make this series a part of my physical library - in hardcover. I encounter few books that actually warrant a softcover purchase, let alone a hardcover, so that should tell readers of this genre that this is a series worth investigating.
