    290 pages of poetic prose

I was simply going through the bargain basement dust bin when I came across this novel with a unanimous 5 star rating. How often does that happen? Buy this beautifully written book and read it slowly savoring the fine phrasing and imagery. Ms. Friddle knows how to string words together to create music. And the story line is there, too. It's a simple complex story of true to life issues superbly told. I haven't come across such good writing in a long time. Read this novel. It is time well spent.

    Subert Debut Novel

Just finished reading this book and truly hated to see it end! It's been ages since I enjoyed a novel as much as this one. Friddle developed characters so well I feel like they live next door and I know them personally. The prose flowed, there was a wonderful sense of place and I highly recommend this book. Very much look forward to Friddle's next one. Do yourself a favor and curl up with this great story.

A Must Read ...and read again.

I stayed up all night reading this book. Cutter just tugs at your heart. One minute I was on the verge of tears and the next I was actually laughing out loud. Some authors just have a gift. Friddle is one of those...

    A Fabulous Read!!!!!

The Garden Angel was an absolute pleasure to read. The author has the ability to intrigue you with characters and well as words. This book is one that you don't want to finish. I am enjoying it for a second time around. I can't wait for Mindy's next book...hopefully there will be another!!!!! :)

Great story and exceptionally well written

This book is incredibly touching, humorous, unpredictable and very enjoyable. The characters are well developed and Mindy uses words like Monet used paint.

    I Also Recommend:

    Great Southern Story

If you love Southern fiction, The Garden Angel delivers. Quirky characters, hilarious acts of sabotage, an unrequited crush, and unorthodox friendships combine for a memorable story. Chapters alternate between the main character, Cutter, and her new friend Elizabeth, who is fighting a debilitating depression while faced with the knowledge of her husband's infidelity. I really enjoyed Cutter's character - trying to hold down two low-paying jobs and fighting to keep the family home from being sold by her two siblings. Excellent read.

    ENJOYABLE READ

At first I worried it might be a little too heavy on the 'Southern Fiction' for me, but not too far into the book I was pleasantly surprised. It was an easy read in a good way. The writing was full of humor and interesting characters.

    Splendid read...perfect for book clubs

My book club read this and it was outstanding. Poignant and humorous, this novel is both a page-turner and a poetic treat. A plucky heroine and stirring ending makes this-- as the Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers review says-- a highly addictive read. The author's attention to imagery and language makes this story memorable. Highly recommended.
