LOVE THIS BOOK!!
LOVE THIS BOOK!! I've been a fan of Molly's forever (I still watch 16 candles when it's on tv) and as soon as I heard she had a book coming out I bought a copy--didn't even wait until Mother's Day :). I couldn't stop reading the book, I finished it in two days! She tells really funny stories and all the stuff about her mom totally rang true with me. The advice parts were really useful, too, especially the wardrobe tips and the cooking tricks (I store all my tomatoes stem side down now!). Also what a BEAUTIFUL book! Loved the colorful drawings. I'm getting my sister a copy for her birthday. Finally, a gift she'll want!

Ugh...Glad I Kept the Reciept
Okay, I love Molly Ringwald. Who doesn't? She was adorable in the '80's. Then again so was every other suburban female who is now 40. I wanted to love this book. The purchasing factor for me was that Reuben Toledo did the pictures (he is the artist who did the great drawings in "The Bombshell Manual of Style". But, come on, did any of us really ever consider Molly a fashion inon? She's been on more "Glamour-Don't/Would You Be Caught Dead in This Outfit" lists for longer than I care to remember. She's really not one to be dispensing beauty and fashion advice, in my opinion. And as if we could possibly forget, she also feels the constant need to remind us that she has been living in France. I'm glad I keep the reciept, as I returned the book the day after I purchased it. I bought the new Queen Latifah book instead "Put on Your Crown". Loved every single page of it!!
PS: Another friend hit the nail on the head with her opinion of it - "Obnoxious" I'll watch "16 Candles" instead. More entertaining!1 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

Fun
This was a fun, quick read. It was actually just how I thought it would be although there was a lot more mom stuff than I expected or needed (I don't have kids). I skipped the cooking and parenting parts and finished the book in one Saturday. It was a little inspiring - with the idea that no matter what your age, you should try to look your best and be your best. Looking great definitely matters less to me than it did when I was a teenager, but maybe I've gone too far in the other direction. Most of the advice though, I would prefer to get from a real "expert." For example, I'm not 100% sure Molly Ringwald is the expert I would want to get cheese advice from.

I am 45 and enjoyed hearing from someone close to my age and era. Molly Ringwald movies represent what it was like to be a teenager growing up in the early/mid eighties and so this book meant more to me that it probably would to someone of a different age group. To be honest, I got this from the library because I didn't think it would be worth the price of the book and I would still stick with that assesment. Unless you have no budgetary restrictions at all, if you can, get it from the library. -

the pretty never left!
As sweet and lovely as the author herself--not only are the stories Molly tells heartfelt and charming, but it all sounds as if it is coming from an old friend. This is not a typically celeb memoir, but something actually USEFUL--I now know how to tie an Hermes scarf, have learned a bit about skincare, and plan on trying Molly's recipe for bouillabaisee. It's real, grown-up advice (a whole parenting chapter!), and completely inspiring at the same time. Sort of like what you imagine Carrie Bradshaw was typing on her laptop in all of those Sex and the City episodes...if she had a baby and knew how to cook. This is the perfect gift for all of your girlfriends and your mom, too--the illustrations are gorgeous--so go buy it now!

Loved it!
I loved this book!! I was completely engrossed after chapter one and couldn't stop reading. And that's not because I'm a huge fan of Molly Ringwald's John Hughes movies. There were so many real anecdotes here that resonated with me--they were funny, smart and touching. I highly recommend this book to anyone who's ever double-pierced their ear in the bathroom--you know who you are. It's the perfect gift for old, dear friends. At once a walk back in time and a treatise on finding the inner pretty.
