Great Sequel

This was a great book! I am impressed, some people said it wasn't as good as the first book, but it was! It is a must read!

    I Also Recommend:

Loved this sequel to Touching Spirit Bear

This was a great sequel. It followed the first book very well and allowed the two main characters to figure out some of the answers for themselves. It was an intriguing twist to have Cole Matthews who was the agressive bully in the first book get bullied in the second and set out to change the boys that bully him as well.
Mikalson creates characters with real flaws and issues that also have heart and courage. The only part that I found unsatisfying was Cole's relationship with his father but it was in the first book as well. I think it is an honest portrayal and applaud him for not tying up every end and creating a happy ending that very realistically would not have happened in real life. I am also happy that Peter developed into a truly three-dimensional character with a backbone and bucks Cole's opinion at the end. They develop into deeper friends and the trust and support between them solidifies. I was impressed. If you missed the first book I highly recommend it as well. My 13-year-old read the books with me and loved the books as well. Great for even good kids without big issues to see a peer that can put his life back together after making mistakes and learn to heal physically and mentally. It is a process we do over and over in life!

I really enjoyed the hard lessons learned in the first book and

I really enjoyed the hard lessons learned in the first book and was very much looking forward to seeing how they were carried into the "real world" in this one. While I also enjoyed this second book, I wish there had been more to it.
For anyone currently dealing with any of these situations, I'm not sure how helpful much of it is other than a "things can or do get better, don't give up" tale.  It doesn't feel terribly realistic, but then, the chances of someone in today's litigious society allowing a teen to get mauled by a bear without suing the heck out of anyone and everyone involved, let alone letting said teen go back under their care, is pretty out there.
It is still a very good read, and recommended for anyone who enjoyed the first one.
