Mystery, Mayhem Gallop Off With Western Writers' Conference

The setting for this fast-moving mystery is that glamorous rural celebrity playground we've all seen backdropping upscale Westerns, the scenarios we'd love to live in if we but had the resources. Anne Allen creates a very recognizable facsimile of the classic Western, complete with the classic personas, to play out clever contortions of murder and mystery. All sorts of wannabe writers mill around the rustic setting of a writers' conference: dewy, suspicious, earnest, and funny, to populate the action with fascinating suspects. It's fun to read because of her ingenious and witty style.

    Another Fine Mess

Ghostwritrers in the Sky chronicles another fine mess Camilla Randall's gotten herself into. Camilla, aka the Manners Doctor, escapes her mess-of-a-life in New York to speak at a high-end writers' conference in California. Along with an array of nutty writers, she deals with the glassy-winged sharp shooter, oak-saving protestors, a dark and handsome policeman who might suffer from road rage, Solvang's tasty Danish pastries, a crossdressing force-to-be-reckoned with, and an unfortunate but promising young writer who doesn't make it through the conference alive. Anne Allen will keep you riveted and cackling as you follow Camilla and her cohorts through unlikely shenanigans in the fast-paced & hysterical tale.

    Highly recommend!

This is a very fun read. Fast paced, funny, cleaver! Anyone who has been to a Writers Conference will get a kick out of all of the quirky characters and crazy circumstances. it is set in the wine country of Santa Yenez. Remember the movie, Sideways. That Santa Yenez. Anne Allen's books are always a delight, her characters rich and unforgettable. Loved it!

    Quite a fun romp

Of course, I've experienced some writers conferences first-hand. Anybody else who's ever been to one is bound to relate. Even if you haven't, this is a wild and funny read.
