A girl whose ancestors were Norwegian immigrants to South Dakota

I loved this book and I really appreciate it because my ancestors emigrated from Norway and moved to SD. In fact the homestead is still in our name. This book gave me a glimpse into my own family history and has given me an appreciation of what my ancestors went through so I could have the life I do now.

    What a book

Finished this book in 1 day. The book involves 4 families who move to North Dakota. The main familly consists of a dedicated working father and a sniveling complaining wife. If you don't hate her by the first 4 chapters, you will at the end. Reading this book will make you feel that our generation has it so easy. These people were incredible. When I read the last paragraph, I was so horrified that the book was finished. I certainly wasn't finished reading. So I got on the web site and found that indeed there was a part II - which I immediately ordered.

    Interesting, Moving Novel

This novel is really moving. I just finished reading it and I am still feeling the effects of it. I really recommend it. It's a 531 page book, but it's a quick read.
