Great Idea, but harder to use than I realized

This book is based on a good idea; I assumed that we would find it easier to see the star guides if the stars glowed in the dark. Well, dumb as this sounds, we forgot to "charge" the glowing pages before we went out to star gaze. And then, when I did try to charge them the next day, I realized that wasn't so easy, either, because you have to keep the pages open (weighted down with other books or something) in order for the glowing parts to get adequate light. Not too hard, except that each page has to be "charged" one at a time.

That said, the pages and text are well written, and I like the way the stars are laid out by season. I think this book will come in handy in the future, especially for camping, but I actually think that some hard plastic glowing sheets (like the ones they make for bird watching) might work better "in the field."

A BRIGHT SHINING STAR IN THE DARK OF THE NIGHT

This book is enjoyable for children age 5 to 10 and adults as well. It is a family activity book. It was a wonderful addition to a family camping trip with star gazing. Our 6 year old made her own constellation and wrote a story to match.
