    Mighty Sword

The best story in this collection is not a Jig the Goblin tale. It is Mightier Than The Sword. This introduces the reader to the Libriomancer and his pet fire spider Smudge. I'm looking forward to reading the novels.

The second besT story is School Spirit. This does not feature Jig either. It's a good, funny, story featuring student magicians in training. One of the main characters is a victim of bullying, one of Hines pet subjects. The lirrle lesson does not interfere with rhe enjoyment of the story.

Tha makes 2/5 ths of the book non Jig The Goblin stories. The rest of the book is okay. I do recommend thiscollection and gave it four stars.

Very entertaining, great with young teens

I fell for the entire goblin series, butthis set ofshort stories I used with the 7th grade class. It seems we all need a fire spider.

    more from this reviewer

A 5-star rating from a reader not particularly fond of short fic

A 5-star rating from a reader not particularly fond of short fiction; but, hey, was desperate for more Jig and very glad I gave it a chance. Actually enjoyed all the stories.

    Great stories!

All of the stories in this anthology are highly entertaining. Most focus on Hines' famous Jig, but a few showcase other goblins -- or, in one case, Smudge. I thoroughly enjoyed them all.

A cute set of stories about one of my favorite goblins

Our hero, a goblin (and everyone knows Goblins are at the bottom of the monster pecking order) here has stories that fill in some of the blanks in the most excellent series of books about him.
