The Most Beautiful Re-Telling of Beauty and the Beast Ever Written...

Mikki Empousai has a secret to how her garden grows. And it is not a secret she is about to share with anyone. Why? Becuase for centuries the Empousai women have been mixing their blood with the water they use to nourish their roses.

One day as Mikki decides to go check on her garden something strange happens. She unknowingly performs a ritual that takes her to the Realm of the Rose. There she encounters Hecate who informs her she has the blood of a high priestess running through her veins. She is the key to keeping the Realm alive.

Also in performing this ritual Mikki has awakened the Realm's Guardian. A Half-man, half-beast creature who was cursed by Hecate. And now Hecate is determined to set things right.

This book was amazing! I know i say that about all of PC Cast's books but it is true. This is one of VERY FEW books I have ever cried in. By the end of the book you are so invested in the characters that you can't help but feel what they are feeling. The raw emotion, the sacrifice, the love. It was a beautiful story.

If you didn't know "Goddess of the Rose" is a mythological retelling of "Beauty and the Beast".

I would also give this book a 6 out of 5 stars! I LOVED IT!

    blending of mythology with romance

Mikki feels out of synch with the world around her and the only thing that pleases her is her award winning roses that she cares for by giving them her blood during the new moon. She begins having dreams of a man-monster and a woman gives her rose scented anointing oil. In a play about Medea, she is asked to read some lines about Hecatate. Afterward she then visits the rose garden in the park and uses her blood to heal the sickening roses. Her blood accidentally is smeared on the statue of a minotaur creature and he suddenly comes to life, chasing her until she loses consciousness. --- Mikki awakens in the Realm of the Roses and her handmaidens tell her that she is the High Priestness of Hecate. She awoke the Guardian who was entombed in the statue in the garden in Tulsa. Now he is back to protect the realm while the Priestess is to care for the roses so that the realm will survive and magick and dreams will be sent out to all the worlds. The Guardian is forbidden by Hecate to love the high priestess unless she can love the man inside the outer visage of a monster. Mikki brings new life and changes the realm and in return the denizens love here include the Guardian but can beauty love the beast and if so when tragedy strikes will eternity keep them apart? --- PC Cast who is well known for her blending of mythological tales and romance creates in GODDESS OF THE ROSE a beautiful adult fairy tale when the heroine teaches the Guardian to see himself through her eyes and is willing to sacrifice herself to save the realm. Mikki feels at home in her new world because she is connected to it through her blood and the roses. Readers will be enchanted by GODDESS OF THE ROSE. --- Harriet Klausner

    Awesome Book

I absolutely loved this book. P.C.Cast was able to take the Beauty and the Beast story, and make it her own. This book is for everyone who loved Beauty and the Beast, and wished that the Beast would have stayed a beast instead of turning into a prince. You fall in love with the "Beast" from the moment you meet him, and continue to love him throughout the book. I would definitely recommend this book to others.

    Loved it

This is the first book I read in Ms Cast's goddess series. I liked the fact that she used the Beauty and the Beast story but tweaked it to add her original view of it. Let me tell you I enjoyed her version soooooo much better. I will be keeping this one in my collection. I highly recommend it

    Left me wanting more.

This was the first book in the Goddess series I picked up. I am rather fond of retellings of Beauty and the Beast, but I think this one stands out among them. This story takes the classic plot out of its typical setting and into a new realm, the Realm of the Roses. I was hesistant of the novel at first, but once I got into it I could not put it down. I have suggested it to all my friends as I suggest you pick it up. ^_^

I was slightly disappointed in this book. I've always loved her

I was slightly disappointed in this book. I've always loved her books but had trouble with this but can't really put my finger on why. It wasn't that it was badly written, and the characters were good too. I think it was the story itself.

    Beauty & the Beast

I thought this was a sweet story that reminded me of Beauty and the Beast. I thought it was a little slow but that was offset by the interesting story line. If this is your first Goddess book then make sure you try out my favorites.

    It was good.

I have read all of the Goddess books and by far this was my least favorite. I just found it hard to get drawn into this story.

    Amazing Read

I have read PC Cast's House of Night Series of which made me fall in love with her writing, and caused me to search out other books she has written. I discovered the Goddess Summoning Series and unfortunately have read only one so far which I found out wasnt the first in the series. So far I am truly amazed and sort of inspired by it. The one thing that is very noticeable in her writing is that she is very much for women's empowerment. Not something I really ever gave much thought to "girl power", however...I am begining to feel how important it is! I look forward to reading the rest of the series and I definetly recommend this book to all women who are looking for some encouragement, fun, romance and a little empowerment!

A twist on Beauty and the Beast!!

I thought the book was pretty good! The book did drag a little but over all it's a great romance novel. I am passing the book on to my mom and sister so they can read it as well. I am about to read gooddess of the sea next, another book in this series.

    Exciting New Twist

P.C. Cast gives an exciting new twist to an old fairy tale. Her Goddess series always leaves you satisfied.

P.C. Cast brings another great novel.

I've finally read the goddess of the rose and it was great. Sometimes it just dragged on and the middle was kinda slow but it was worth it. I think the ending could have been a little better just like some of her other books but it was still satisfying.

    Others in series are better

Maybe it's that I'm not a huge fan of the beauty & the beast story in general, but this retelling didn't do anything to change my mind. I gave up on it (which is rare for me).

Goddess of Spring (the Persephone/Hades story) is much better.

    A Fourth Goddess Hit

Though out of the four Goddess books this is my least favorite, it is still amazing. PC Cast has created a realm unlike any others out there. Her characters always have great chemistry together, and Mikki and the Guardian are no exception. It is always a pleasure to see such strong women living so naturally with equally strong men.
