I suppose this is a case of getting what you paid for. When I spied this title (which does indeed have a neat cover) I gave the synopsis a read, and thought that this book could be quite interesting. I;m a sucker for anything noir-ish and an avid reader of mysteries, fantasy, and sci-fi, so I expected to like this book.

I couldn't make it through more than about forty pages.

Simply put, this novel is terribly written - the style is hackneyed and cliche, the characters are one dimensional (and the main character is clearly an author insert, and it's not even subtle), and the plot is very, very predictable. It's not even imaginatively horrid, like Mervyn Peake - just run-of-the-mill terrible.

This book reads a lot like bad fan fiction that happens to be about original characters. How it ever got published is a mystery to me, but let me say that there is a reason this is one of the cheapest eBooks I've seen listed here.

Weak plot. Weak premise. Shallow characters. -Town Crier

This will be popular with tweens and housewives who are readily amused by afternoon soap operas and kiddie anime.
