    I luv it

The book was awesome. The main character kinda related to me because im a girl who found graffiti as my art and talent. Great story to relate to in real life.

    What a story! Great read!

After reading this, I so wish I had one ounce of artistic ability. Made me want to find parties where they do these graffiti battles. Can't wait to read more from Kelly Parra. From the first page, the story just grabs you and you can't stop reading. Who knew girls did graffiti? This is such a unique story and glad that it was told!!!

Angel is a teenage girl whose life, or much of it, at least, is about her art. She loves art, but when she enters a contest for a mural, and doesn't win, she's more than a little disappointed. In her disappointment, Angel turns to another form of art, one that's more often than not practiced illegally: graffiti.

Miguel shows her his artwork, his graffiti, and even lets her into his graffiti crew, Reyes del Norte. She finds her voice in graffiti, and also finds herself drawn more and more to Miguel.

However, Miguel's not the only guy in the picture. Nathan is a much more clean-cut, wholesome guy, whose art is a lot more conventional, too; he won the mural contest that Angel wanted to win.

To say Nathan and Miguel don't get along is an understatement. And with both of them taking a rather sudden interest in Angel, their rivalry is getting even more intense. What side in it all will Angel pick--and will she stay true to herself and her art?

I was very excited to pick up this book; the summary sounds pretty great, and also really original. For the most part, GRAFFITI GIRL lived up to my expectations and was pretty awesome!

I love the characters, especially Angel, and I was impressed with the way the difficult decisions Angel had to make were realistically fuzzy and grey rather than clearly black and white, the way these sorts of choices (picking between two guys, for example) so often are to the reader.

The writing in the story was excellent, and the subject matter was fresh and interesting, making this story well worth reading. Kelly Parra is an impressive new voice in YA literature--keep an eye out!

    Welcome to Her World

From the very beginning of this fantastic book, I was pulled into Angel's world -- the world of art and expression. She was a great character, and I felt like she was actually telling me this story. All she wants is to be the best when it comes to what she loves: art. Her confidence fades more and more until Miguel Badalin -- the school's rebel and a big-time graffiti artist -- shows interest in her style. And in her. Angel makes some bad choices, but this makes her even more real as a character. This book kept me flipping pages, racing to the end. It is full of life lessons without being preachy or talking down to the readers. For a fast-paced story about friendship, love, family, friends, art, and finding yourself, I definitely recommend Graffiti Girl. I'm looking forward to more from Kelly Parra.

Great story with a strong character

I couldn't put this book down. I LOVE the main character Angel--she is strong and tough yet has a soft place in her heart. She crosses the line but finds her own way back and stands accountable for her actions. It's about Art, love, and being true to yourself--I think any girl can find something to relate to in this book.

    Riveting!

16 year-old artist Angel Rodriguez's life takes a sharp turn when a hot 'graf writer' offers to draw her into his exciting--and dangerous--world. GRAFFITI GIRL is a fast-paced story that boldly looks dreams and temptations in the eye. Angel steals your heart as she tries to find her place in the world--artistically, socially, and even inside her own family. The crisp writing keeps you on the edge of your seat as you get a first-hand look into tagging, turf wars and graffiti battles. Don't miss this one!
