It's disgusting! And in full detail! For those of you who don't mind that, I recomend that, but I really want to warn those who do. Chose the Right.

    Terrible

It would have been a good book if the author didn't feel the need to put in same sex implications. I don't see why the author felt the need to add this in. I would not recommend reading this.

    TERRIBLE

Normally when I read a book I simply cannot put it down until I'm finished. This book took me much longer than most books I normally read. It jumps from place to place, drags out the scenes, and I found the characters to be entirely too complicated. Intriguing characters are beneficial to a book, but these characters were simply annoying. I certainly would not suggest reading this book.

    Nothing Great

I bought the book after reading many reviews and I loved that Gemma grew up in Bombay, a place of my own birth. I was so excited to read the book about some part of India during the British Raj, it was a different world and many of things written in the first few pages still exist. However, I was completely turned off by the author's lack of knowledge about India, its customs and foods. Let me make this clear, we don't eat cobras, Ms. Bray must have seen "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" one too many times to even make a ridiculous assumption. The snake is revered in the Indian/Hindu custom not eaten!
Aside from the above, the book is not captivating, it's not a page turner and I don't like the main character, at all. Including her brother, who was written to show the prejudices of the time. The characters were not exciting, they have no depth.
I highly recommended anyone to read the Harry Potter series and first 3 books of the Twilight series. These books have great characters and are page turners from the get go.

    dissapointing...

I started this book and had to stop less then halfway through...There was just to much whichcraft and dark powers in it. Especially the part when a talking snake devours someone whole...It was not very well written either...I just finished reading The Secret History of the Pink Carnation wich was a excellent book, so starting this book right after was a big let down...
