Great book. Just perfect!
I bought this book for my 10 year old daughter who is just starting to talk about periods, bras and pads. The book is so perfect because it covers all aspects of girls growing up in a very simple but truthful way and it doesn't prematurally expose girls to things that they might not be ready for. I loved the book because it is not as graphic as other books which is just pefect for sensitive girl like my daugther. The book will even answer the simple questions around sex and babies in a very simple and casual manner. Excellent book for choosy and over protective moms like me. When my 8 year old daughter starts wondering about her body I will have no problem sharing this book with her. Many thanks for the author.

Girls Need to Know these things
Almost every girl likes to know what it would be like to go through puberty, and this book tells a girl everything she will need to know during her daily life. I think it is the perfect book for girls between the ages of 9-12.

Mother of a 11 year old.....
I was told about 'The Period Book' from a friend. She had her daughter read it at age 8. I went to Barnes & Noble to buy it for my 11 year old but while I was there I found 'Growing Up'. I sat and studied both books, trying to decide which one I wanted to get. I'm sure she would of understood the concept of the 'The Period Book', however I liked the way 'Growing Up' was written. It has good little girlish clip arts and discriptions. I think she will get more out of 'Growing Up'. Since she is home on summer vacation I'm making her read a chapter a day (the chapters are only about 3 pages).

Terrific Book!
I bought this book for my 10-year daughter, who was starting to really ask questions about all the things this book covers. She could not put this book down. She read it cover to cover in one day, and after she finished reading it, we had one of the best, most open and honest mother-daughter talks ever. I highly recommend this book.

Whew! Now I don't have to tell her!!
When my daughter was 8 she needed corrective surgery to repair a birth defect in her private area. I would explain to her what the surgery would involve and she would say. . . 'I don't want to know anything about THAT.' Now that she is 11 I think her curiosity got the better of her and now she wants to know!! Thanks for a wonderful book!!

What this book helps you on
The book has helped me further understand the cycle I go through each month as a young girl. My mother, teachers, family and friends have told me about this cycle but I further understood it's meaning and purpose by reading this book. I would suggest this to any age or gender.
