Vintage Winston, Wonderfully Evolving
Having listened to a lot of Winston, I sort of knew what to expect: the heavy cadence/metronome-ish rhythm, certain musical phrases and full use of the piano as an instrument, including opening the lid, etc. But this mix feels very regional, very southern and bluesy, with African influences mixed in and undertones of longing and melancholy interspersed with songs of energy and purpose. It fits perfectly with Winston's style, which here seems to shine with additional complexity and verve. A fantastic set of songs and a great cause. Was this review helpful?
