    Close to perfection

If you don't have this album, you don't have a Country Music collection. That is how important and how perfect an album Marty Robbins' Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs truly is. It isn't just one of the best Country albums of all time; it is one of the best albums ever made in any field. Listening to this album is like reliving all the best moments of every classic Western you ever saw, only better, because with this album you get the movie of your own imagination.

One of music's all-time greatest albums

I can remember listening to Marty's "Gunfighter Ballads..." when I was a little kid as my dad played it often. Today, some decades later, I listen to it from time to time and realize what great talent Marty had. His way of bringing the old west to modern music opened our eyes to how life was then. "El Paso" is of course an all-time classic, along with "Big Iron" and "The Masters Call". This album is a must for any serious music fan. Few singers could ever match the great voice of Marty, as well as his song-writing ability and versatility. Truly Marty, some memories just won't die!

    Marty's masterpiece

This is one of the all time great albums of the Country and Western field. Coming hot on the tail of several big Pop field crossovers such as 'A White Sport Coat', 'Just Married' and ''The Story of my Life' Robbins returned to the Cowboy music of his Arizona roots. Marty's masterpiece 'El Paso' made its debut on this album and is simply a movie in song. Consistently voted in the all time top Country songs, Marty's spellbinding vocal accompanied by the great Grady Martin on guitar has a stark minimalism added to by two of Marty's band members Jim Glaser and Bobby Sykes. The original album went platinum and has sold consistently over a 40 year period. Other great Robbins' compositions 'Big Iron' and 'The Master's Call' are simply great as are Marty's superlative versions of 'Cool Water' 'They're Hanging me Tonight, 'Strawberry Roan' and 'Utah Carol'.
