I recommend this book to teens of any gender who enjoy nature and true survival stories that take place outside of civilization. Gary Paulsen uses a wide variety of word choices that most teens are familiar too. This book has many exciting peaks to satisfy action readers and readers who enjoy thinking about what will happen next. Since every story is based on his true adventures you can visualize more details because you can reference to what you already know about his surroundings.

    Didnt like it much

I thought this book would be as good as his other survival books. but hearing the real story kinda ruined it. i liked how in hatchet and its sequels he made you believe all these things. but in guts he kinda came out and told you excatly what happend. unlike hatchet where he had mysterious things around him that he didint even know what they were. I Dont reccomend reading this book if you enjoy his hatchet book and its sequels

Not the greatest nor the worst

Gary Paulsen's book, Guts was quite interesting and I learned quite a bit about the wilderness from it. The title says it all...if you like grueling gory books..this is the book for you. Mr. Paulsen has had some very interesting adventures and I was surprised at some of his experiences. Overall it was a good book but I don't think it is the best one I have ever read. If your into wildlife it would be a good book but if your not, I would NOT recommend this book.
