Navigation Problems are User Error

In reality, there IS a table of contents, though it's a little different than they may be used to...and it's very easy to get from the verses to the notes, and back to the verses. Nor does the "back" button vanish after a second as one says...you just need to tap the center of the page, the navigation bar slides back up, and the "back" button is right there for you.
A really nice feature is this bible provides a lot of "cross references". However, if you want to "follow the string" to other cross references, and find a magic back button that will take you back to the original verse after you've gone well out of the direct path, then yes...you need to do about 3 quick taps to get back to the book, chapter and verse you were on.
This works well, and is a good blessing to the Children of God.

This version does not even have an index for the Books of the Bible. To go to a specific Book (let alone chapter and verse) you have to use the slider option and keep checking where you are in the Bible to get to the Book that you want and then search for the chapter you want. Not an easy system for that type of reading. There are lots of notes to study but jumping to a note it is difficult to get back to where you were reading unless you set a bookmark beforehand - which itself is a bit cumbersome.

    Disappointing

This is possibly my favorite study bible, and the apple app is awesome, but this book version is extremely difficult to navigate. You can get to the chapter in the Bibke, or you can get to the study nites, but you can't do both. This pretty much renders it useless as a study bible.

In this version of the Bible, the authors state that Genesis indicates that God made "man" in his image. In the notes they comment that the word for "man" is actually translated as "human beings" in other places in Scriptures. This is perhaps why, in other translations, such as the NLT, the authors have chosen to translate the text as God making "human beings" in his image. It is unacceptable that the authors of this translation have held on to a culture-bound translation of this verse, when they acknowledge in their own notes that the language of the text actually refers to "human beings." They advertise that their translation is not advocating political statements, but it clearly does in this very early passage of the Bible. There is no excuse for this in this day and age when we clearly have enough Biblical data to refute the outdated translation.

FYI, I am a professor at a Christian university and I myself have a Master of Divinity. I understand these issues from an educated perspective, and again, I find the authors' choice of language here based upon social perspectives, not the actual Biblical language.
