Great Book for Beginners and Old Hands Alike

I picked up this book to learn about what is new in web design. Each section that I have read has been full of information presented in an easy to understand format. I also like the fact that the authors shows you how to build a website without all kinds of specialty tools; in fact, the philosophy of this book it that anyone can and should build a website using tools that teach you what to write yourself, so you learn the language, not just learn how to use some web design tool. The result is a website that you know how it works and is easily maintained.

I recommend this book whether you are someone who has never built a web site before, or someone who has some experience and would like to gain new knowledge. It covers the XHTML 1.0 Strict language standard very well, and encourages designers to write pages that will validate and run well with any browser. It also covers testing and compatibility issues with older web browsers, such as Internet Explorer 6.

Great book to break into web standards

I like this book a lot. It is clear, practical and straight to the point. Also, when I had a question I emailed the author and he responded very quickly to answer my question. Great buy.
