Wow. Didn't know there were this many kinds...

He explains all types of hallucinations, including out of body experiences and near death experiences, as organic in origin. Loved the chapter on dream hallucinations. They even mention the Newfound hag. Fascinating book.

    Oliver Sacks doesn't disappoint

I have read many of Dr. Sacks' books and this one does not disappoint. If you are a fan of his, like non-fiction, medicine or are just plain fascinated about us as human beings, then add this to your read list. Dr. Sacks writes, as always, in an informative, sensitive, accessible style about an intriguing topic. Very elucidating and thought-provoking.

You might find yourself in this book! I did.

The average person may find Hallucinations overwhelming - the multitude of anonymous confessions of out of body experiences; seeing, hearing, feeling and smelling things not real. Sane people confiding insane experiences... "coming out" like aliens among us. However, as one of those aliens, there was relief and comfort in finding common ground, even feelings of companionship in so many like myself (and perhaps even you, dear reader!) Dr. Oliver Sacks, once again has not failed to share his knowledge, personal experience, and empathy for those with unusual and often misunderstood maladies.
A most exciting read; but don't be surprised if you find yourself in this book!

Oliver Sacks never fails to educate and intrigue!

A great exploration on the strange tics our brain can cause and the resultant "realities" it can create as hallucinations. Even reviews historical cases and suggests the medical causes of hauntings, ghost sitings, etc.

    Disappointing

Disappointing, as there isn't any "hope" included, just history.
