I just read this book a month ago and im already wanting to read it again! the book it excellent and it has many catchs : fantasy, suspence, easy to read, some what historical (it takes place in late 1800s boston and maine). This book is a must read summer book. The story is of mainly 15 year old hannah finding out about herself in a imortant upperclass family. from the orphan train to a lower servent dodging the family's oldest daughter and befriending the youngest sister. The only bad thing about the book is it ended to fast and the second bokk hasnt come out yet!

This book was alright. It was written very well and was a page turner. However not one of my favorites. I do want to read the rest of the series though.

    Hannah

I think that this novel was a well laid out story about a girl's journey to find out were she belongs. Also the author did a wonderful job with the vocabulary in this particular novel. Another reason I think this novel was good is because it shows a side of wonder in a girl's journey to find a good life to live. What I don't like about this book is that it was somehow scary or creepy in a way. Also some of the parts in the book were kind of randomly put in so it was a little hard to follow. Also in the beginning of the book it didn't really pull me in or hook me on to keep reading.

The writing style of the author Kathryn Lasky in this book is third person. Third person writing style is when there is a narrorator in the story. The writing was very clear and really easy to read. When a story is clear about what it is trying to tell you it defiantly makes the story better. Also the author's tone in this particular book is in between formal and casual. The tone is in between because the story is about a girl who is a maid and doesn't really no her formal manners but yet she is working for a very wealthy and formal family.

I would not recommend this book because it was just to all over the place. Also, because to me it was a little creepy I like fantasy books but I wanted to branch out and I guess I picked the wrong book. Another reason why I would not recommend this book is because it was an easy read but hard to follow. Also the concept of the book was not that great but easy to get it. Books that are similar to this one are, The Emily Windsnap series, Women of The Sea, and Daughters of The Sea. Other recommended novels that I have read would be, School of Fear, which is a really cool book. Also Penny From Heaven that's also one of those books that you cannot put down. Lastly The Prince Of Fenway Park is a really interesting fantasizing book.
