This is an amusing contemporary romance
Imogen Wilson grew up in New York where she attended the best schools the city offered. Ty McCordle suffers from dyslexia so school meant nothing to him as he always fell behind in his class work. Whereas she enjoys studying, he enjoys driving race cars.-------------
In Charlotte, North Carolina they meet when Imogen's friend Professor Tamara Briggs-Monroe (see FLAT OUT SEXY) escorts her to the racing track. Yet in spite of their obvious differences they are attracted to one another. Her feelings for him and noticing a woman at the track whose only goal is to marry one of drivers gives Imogen an idea for her graduate thesis: the courting rituals of stock car racing drivers. However, her hands on field research cause all sorts of problems and sticky situations especially between her and Ty.--------------
This is an amusing contemporary romance starring two seemingly opposites who have more in common than either realizes. The cast makes the tale fun as their reactions to Imogen's field research are priceless. Fans will enjoy riding the track with Ty as he drives HARD AND FAST to win the love of the grad student driving him crazy.-----------

Hard and Fast----Is Flat Out Sexy!
2nd book in the series and just as good as the first. I had a little trouble getting into it at first because Imogen is a strange character, but I soon learned to love her. She is Tamara's friend and meets Ty in the First Book Flat Out Sexy. Ty is also a driver and Imogen is a graduate student. Imogen decides to right her thesis on race car drivers. She starts to consider to date them, but soon only has eyes for Ty. Ty is a gorgeous guy who has women falling all over him, Imogen is simple. Ty dumps his bimbo girl friend easily for Imogen. They share a hot steamy relationship. Ty has a disability that was touching to read about. He hides it from the world and Imogen. When Imogen finds out the story becomes heart wrenching. The story takes many twist and turns and it was a easy fast read that I read in one day.
However, once again I feel like I was cheated with their story as there was more to tell. These books are easy to read because it does not "go into" the racing life and lingo so those of us who do not follow racing can still read it and know what is happening and feel comfortable. I am hoping the other characters in these two books get their chance for their stories to be told.1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!!! GREAT READ!!!
Ty is a great guy that has been filling his time with too much air--like in Nikki's head, but he wants a woman of substance and along comes Emma Jean, or Engine, or actually Imogen. Ty can't quite get her name right, but he likes her. Imogen is a hoity toity, New York city girl going for her degree in sociology, and is friends with Tamara, who marries Elec, who drives in stock car racing with Ty, and that's how they hook up. Imogen's honest curiosity, intrigues Ty and he wants to get to know her better, and after being caught in the rain at a dinner party, he really wants to know her inside and out. I really love this book, and can't wait for the next one. The books are fast paced, and I honestly couldn't put it down. I read this book in a matter of hours, and couldn't wait to do it again. Really a great read.

Start your engines..... WOW
Hard And Fast by Erin McCarthy is a pedal to the floor all out funny and sexy book.
Imogen Wilson a sociology grad student stumbles across a great idea for her thesis. A track groupie shows her a book on how to land a race car drive. Imogen decides that if she follows these rules it will give her insight into the mating games at the race track. Before she barely starts her work her attraction to driver Ty McCordle revs up.
Ty McCordle is a major player in the race car dating scene. He just broke up with his latest air-head groupie and is surprised how attracted he is to brainy Imogen. Imogen is so different then any woman he has ever dated. Besides being smart she is delightfully fun and sexy.
But Ty has a secret that he is afraid will make Imogen will think less of him. Ty has coped with his dyslexia all his life and has done a fairly good job of keeping it hidden.
Ty and Imogen's is one of the best written relationships I have read in a while. Sure its hot and sexy but what really made it special for me is that Ty and Imogen really talked. They both listened to each other openness and caring. I deeply enjoyed their conversations, they made me laugh out loud and sigh so many times. Any Erin McCarthy book is a delight.1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

Highly Recommended - great series
This was the second in the Fast Track Series. The book was definitely about two people who seemed to be totally wrong for each other and with nothing in common. We were introduced to both Ty and Imogen in the first book, Flat-Out Sexy, and Imogen knew Ty was totally wrong with her but could not help but be attracted to him. It was great seeing the interaction between the two and how they got to know each other and to see that Ty could change his behavior and how he helped Imogen come out of her shell some. It was also nice to see some of the other characters introduced in the first book continue in this one. I have now read all five of the books out and am looking forward to number six "Jacked Up" coming out in June. Erin McCarty is a terrific writer and their is plenty of heat in the sex scenes and she also brings her characters to life for you. There is also plenty to laugh about also.

Hot and Steamy Romance
Love these Fast Track Series books! The romances are really hot, the sex really intense, and I enjoy reading about the racing circuit. Very different setting than most romance novels!

The Romance Reviews Top Pick
Two laugh-out-loud characters with flaming chemistry and a sense of adventure come together in this fast paced tale of first love.

Imogen Wilson has been hot for Ty McCordle since they met at a dinner party. She's a graduate student of sociology and he is a playboy race car driver. With what looks like nothing in common, she blames her libido for her infatuation, one Ty finds himself returning in spades.
Ty is an alpha male with a sense of adventure and a love for the outdoors. I enjoyed going along for the ride as Ty showed NYC girl Imogen the paradise that lay outside the city. Her brutal honesty was funny and endearing. It provided a great opportunity to get to know Imogen and the way she thinks. Ty's response to her was charming and I could feel the two clicking together like a perfect match.
There is so much to these two characters and this wonderful story of two people who see themselves lacking in different ways and yet find acceptance in each other. There is so much that I want to blather on about, but I don't want to spoil the unfolding for readers. Suffice it to say that I got to know their deep dark secrets and it made even playboy Ty endearing.
The entire back up cast from book one, Flat-Out Sexy, came together in this book again. Elec and Tamara are married. Suzanne is falling apart as she looks to returning to her old career. Evan actually spends this tale waiting for Ty to fail so he can swoop in and grab Imogen for himself. And Ryder is still the even-tempered pal they all lean on. There are plenty of set up dynamics for the next book. and I just can't wait to find out what happens with them all.
It's fast-paced, funny and once again, toe-curling sexy. How can you go wrong with fast cars, gorgeous men, intelligent funny women, and lots of sex all over the place? This one is a total treat. Like eCandy (or page candy) for the soul. Enjoy! -
Still on the FAST TRACK to being a HOT and steamy series!
After reading the first book in McCarthy's FAST TRACK series I was very excited to start the next book because it left me wanting to find out who would be next to fall in love with a race car driver and have amazingly HOT and steamy sex along the journey to falling in love. Just like Ty I had a bit of trouble understanding Imogen's name and how to pronounce it but that didn't stop me from devouring this novel in just less that 2 days. Though it would seem that Ty and Imogen were total opposites and could't have possibly made a serious relationship between them work I just knew that they would over come that and make it all work out. I had a blast reading this novel and I'm anxious to get into the next book in this amazingly written series.

Unique and unforgettable story & characters
I always loved autos and the men who drive them superfast on a track. This book reinforces my adoration, through delightfully sexy characters and a winsome storyline. The sex is exhilarating and loving, yet adventurous. I actually felt like I was Imogene in the clever way her thoughts were intertwined with the development of her relationship with Ty. Ty is the main surprise, and equally easy to fantasize about. A romance that has a modern backdrop like this one is not usually my reading choice. The auto racing industry being one of my daily followings, this book did not disappoint me. My thanks to Erin McCarthy, I hope for more stories from her talented writing pen soon!

More than a good cover!
The characters are easy to relate to and the interactions between our protagonists seem real. It's a off-beat romance between a very smart but insulated girl and a very smart but guarded and dyslexic man. We start out viewing our super romantic hero with her own academic bias but by the end realize that he's just as smart and better adjusted than she is. Still, the story is funny, sweet, intelligent, and the sex scenes are steamy! It would probably be a good thing to read these in order if you want to catch up on older characters (this is the second book) but not necessary to enjoy! I loved this one.

Entertaining but predictable
I'm an Erin McCarthy fan and have followed NASCAR all of my life. I was interested to see how this series would turn out. The first book had some unrealistic racing references, but the story was different, interesting and I couldn't wait to read this one. You meet the characters from this book in the first book. I really wondered how E.M would bring these two together and make it work. The answer was to change the two main characters...especially the male. Don't get me wrong, I liked this male character, but have a difficult time reconciling it to the character met in the first book.

You don't have to know much about NASCAR in order to enjoy this book. As a matter of fact, the less knowledge you have, the less distracted you become by inconsistancies. It is a good read, even though you know what's going to come next. I'm actually looking forward to the next one and I'm really hoping E.M won't change these characters much. I've grown to like them just the way they are and will be really disappointed if she alters their personalities! -

Fun read!
Hard and Fast was a fun, sexy read! I enjoyed the story of opposites attract, especially Ty quoting Shakespeare to Imogen. Since I know nothing about car racing it was fun to learn along with Imogen and I enjoyed Ty's nicknames for her.

Hot and good.
This is one of the better erotic books I've read. It's actually got a story and the characters were very intersting to read. I will probably have to lend this one to freinds! But I would suggest they get their own copies!

The Jock falls for the Bookworm!
You got to love a man who finds a woman in glasses "Sexy"! I truly enjoyed this book. Ty and Imogen were the perfect opposites attract. They both knew they had nothing in common but the more time spent with each other the more they knew they couldn't be apart. Ty's constant mispronouncing of Imogen's name was cute expecially when he called her "Engine". The camping trip was funny and Ty's quoting of Shakespere was highly romantic. The secondary characters again are interesting as in the first book. Look forward to Ryder's and Suzanne's story.

Hard and Fast oh yeah!
Like all of Erin McCarthy's romance novels, I loved this one too. I read it in about 1 and a half days. Steamy, steamy and more steamy! I love Ty and Imogen. They are so opposite but very attracted to each other. I wish Ty had just told Imogen his "problem" up front but of course there has to be some sort of conflict that comes up in the relationship. Even though that didn't happen, I totally recommend this book to everyone! It's a great read with a great writing style. I can't wait for the next book in the series. Way to go Erin!! :)
