    Sarah Brightman's Harem

This CD has reaffirmed my love of Sarah's work. An exotic and sensual feel to the music make this one well worth buying. From the title track "Harem", and all through the disk, the Mid-Eastern theme is loaded with wonderful songs that make you feel good!

    Could have been better!

It took a few listens to this CD before I began to like it---so different from Sarah's usual fare. Just wish she would sing full voice and get rid of the falsetto singing she seems to be addicted to. Liked Harem, It's a beautiful day, Journey Home, and Mysterious Days. I have lots of her CD,s and DVD's, and truly enjoy her talents most when she combines the operatic with pop and other classics. Her charisma charms the audiences, and even thru the electronics, she touches the heart strings. Harem is a nice experiment, but definitely not your best, Sarah, please go back to your roots.

Sarah Brightman Returns With What Might Be Her Absolute Best Yet!

Being a huge fan of Ms. Brightman, I must be honest and say that I was not entirely enthralled with LA LUNA. Well, fasten your seatbelts kids, 'cause HAREM is going to blow your skirt up! Way up! This may be my favorite album since DIVE. Certainly EDEN was exceptional. HAREM is Sarah's exploration of Middle Eastern style music, coupled with her brilliant, on-target vocal style. Sarah has assembled a cast of astonishing players lending their unique spice. The percussion is extraordinary, as HAREM showcases the Doumbek, Tar & other frame drums from the Middle East. The late Iraeli singer, Ofra Haza lends vocals, a Middle Eastern String Ensemble colour this work with there impressive style. Buy the Limited Edition with the DVD which chronicles the making of HAREM. It is a few extra bucks, but well worth it and then some. Watch the DVD first, then listen to the CD, I mean listen. You will appreciate all the preparation and perfectionism that has gone into this album. Particularly incredible are: BEAUTIFUL(Absolutely flawless) FREE(Sexy, seductive, great hooks;like Sarah!) WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD(reworked in such a way as to almost not recognize it is as such a famous song) THE JOURNEY HOME(Craftfully sung like a great master of song, the instrumentation so complementary & it grooves into a cool dance track. Yummy!) YOU TAKE MY BREATH AWAY(You fans know this song is from a previous release, but Sarah thought that it fit into this context). You know what? I just can not listen to anything else at all right now. Every song is just dripping in gorgeosity(I know that is not a word, but make it work here). Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! (I would love to see Sarah team with Peter Gabriel for a project; that would be a blessed musical union.)
