Every doctor should read this book! No EVERYONE should read this book!

The information John Robbins presents in this book will make your jaw drop. The evidence is staggering which proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the American diet is deadly. I had already switched to a vegan diet when I started reading this book, but it reaffirmed my belief that the path I have chose is the right one. Diet For a New America (another book of J. Robbins) goes into more detail regarding the ethical and environmental reasons for choosing to be vegan and should be on your list of must read books. I would have given the book 5 stars except the last part of the book seemed to be politically motivated and encouraged a socialist ideal (what does that really have to do with the topic of the book. I am a conservative who is also very environmentally concerned. As the diet and environment should be some of the most important issues and should not matter what political party you belong to. (I mean really who wants to destroy the earth? Nobody should!) Despite my personal differences John Robbins is a genius at presenting the facts and educating people about health and nutrition which our government fails to tell us (actually they lie to us). I think he should be put in charge of restructuring the food pyramid and the public school food program. Healthy at 100 and Diet for a New America are enlightening and if you want to educate yourself on how to eat for a long life of good health that has quality and quantity you have found what you have been looking for.
