    Heaven is a real place!!!

This book took me 6 months to read because I wanted to take my time and check out the scriptures and contemplate on what I read. It answered some questions I've had and raised a few others. Alcorn himself says that he is not the final word, but I was encouraged to think for myself and then trust God to give me wisdom and faith for the forever future!

    Using with Older population

One day, while in a resale shop, a book fell off the shelf right in front of me. It was Randy Alcorn's book on Heaven for KIDS. I bought it,and brought it to work the next day to share with my Bible Study class.
( This class is for Residents who live in a Retirement home. (age 80-90's). This was the first time we had actually 'asked/discussed' questions about Heaven. One Resident had read R. Alcorns book on Heaven, and we decided to all purchase a copy for ourselves.
We are now on Chapter 8.
The book is absolutely wonderful...although quite hard to understand at times. One person is uncomfortable discussing Heaven. Several are a bit lost with his 'heavy' content. Several are really enjoying the book and determined to finish it. I find it very deep at times as well, but have learned alot. All of our minds are now thinking differently about our purpose on this Earth and are stretching to become better in our everyday lives. NONE of us thought so much about those on Earth being ignorant of Heaven, but those in Heaven are NOT ignorant of life on Earth.

So much to learn. God Bless !! Peace

As the author suggested, when planning a trip to an unknown place, it is wise to prepare ahead. Study that place. Think on it so that upon arrival, you'll feel comfortable. As a Christian, I plan on going to Heaven, and I appreciate the efforts the author employed to compile this tome.
In addition to many verses from the Bible, Alcorn used his extensive collection of material for his opinions. Although it is an intimidating work with 535 pages, I must say, it's worth the read. (I read a chapter or two each day until finished. It might serve well for a group study.)
The one caveat I have is the repetition.  It should have been edited more carefully.

Encouraging read while living in this out of control world.....

I find this book to be very interesting and informative. Of course, we can not know for absolute certainty what Heaven will be like until we get there. At the same time Randy Alcorn has some very good Biblically based explanations and vivid descriptions of the NEW EARTH. It is exciting for the person who has Jesus as their Savior. We will need eternity to enjoy all that God has in store for us.

    Encouraging

Bible references make this book more believable than many books about heaven.
