Great book for boys!
Many of the serial books for 1st and 2nd graders are directed at girls.
This is a very engaging series for young boys and great for classroom use.
Struggling readers can use it as well as accomplished ones. Boys often struggle with reading and the subject matter makes a big difference.
As a teacher, I highly recommend this whole series. Henry and Mudge's adventures are common to many boys and make them want to read!3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

Henry and Mudge always excites!
Henry and Mudge stories are always so exciting! It's fun to find out what Henry and Mudge are going to get into and usually it's a bit of trouble! A great beginning reader series to start out with!

Great reading!
If your child loves dogs, he/she will love the Henry and Mudge books. They are wonderful stories and feature a little boy and his very large dog and all their adventures. The kids can relate to the love between the boy and his dog and it makes them happy to read. My daughter loves dogs and since the very first moment she picked up a Henry and Mudge book in kindergarten, she was hooked. She now owns all the Henry and Mudge books and cherishes every single one of them! She is now 7 and still enjoys reading them over and over because they are such happy, positive stories.
