Not Exactly Light Reading
I am really torn on how to describe this book. I acquired it through a Freebie Friday and it looked interesting. I have never been pregnant myself, but have had friends who have had abortions and thought I could get a better understanding.
This book is very heavy on the religious aspects of abortion, God, Jesus, repentance/forgiveness etc in obtaining peace. The writer works in a pregnancy care position trying to assist women choosing their path to not abort.
I do believe the writer is very sincere - but it has been over 30 years since her abortion and she is obviously still so affected by it despite the title. She goes on after the abortion to marry and have 3 sons, which is wonderful. But the "lost" child has a name, memorial plaque, and practically a place setting at the table.
Perhaps this was a subject it was not possible for me to relate to well after all - but if you are looking for a feel-good book, I can't recommend it, particularly if you are not overly religious.
