The album is neither ostentatious nor extravagant but truly imeldific! Even non-fans would appreciate both the album and the icon after listening to this masterpiece. Bravo!
As a Filipino and somebody who personally knows Mrs. Imelda Marcos, I was both awed and intrigued upon seeing the cover of the album. But listening to it and reading the book that came along with its deluxe edition brought me to a higher ecstasy. Contemporary musical geniuses DJs David Byrne and Fatboy Slim who collaborated in producing and conceptualizing the album perfectly captured the true beauty of Imelda inside and out. Fashioned like a stage musicale, this outstanding album featured great pop/rock singers and musicians who alternated in the roles of Imelda and the prominent people that surrounded her colorful life. The perfectly written, performed and engineered songs would give the listener a clearer understanding that behind the iconic figure was a simple barrio lass who just happened to be stunningly beautiful, had an impeccable taste for music and the arts, and happened to be the wife of a celebrated president. After listening to the music and lyrics of the compilation, I couldn't help but feel pride and honor to be of the same race as the great lady the album gives homage to.Was this review helpful?
