First book was better
I'm about halfway through this book and wondering whether I should bother to finish. There are far too many fight scenes: very "left hook, right cross, left hook" style. In the first book, it was tolerable as it only really came up toward the end, but in this one, it feels like the main character is constantly looking for trouble, policing without any backup. I wouldn't mind her attitude if the writing didn't suffer during these scenes. There's a lot of action that would make for a good tv episode, but dull reading. I'd have liked more character work. We know Joss is socially inept; show us how she deals with this instead of restating the obvious. A survivor looks to compensate for inadequacies, and I'm not seeing enough of that. A last minute, sudden epiphany isn't going to make up for it.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
