Carla Neggers latest ,and second in her Sharpe and Donovan series, may be her best yet and given her already high standard that's saying a lot. FBI agents Emma Sharpe and Colin Donovan each have their specialty. Hers is art crime, his is deep undercover work, but their concerns collide when a long lost Russian treasure resurfaces and illegal arm dealers are involved. As they strive to work out the complications of their relationship, things are compounded by the mysterious art work and the machinations of an unknown antagonist. Neatly tying together the criminal and personal elements, Neggers weaves a fine tale that races to an exciting conclusion. The pace is brisk and never lets up on either element. As always, the characters are finely drawn and the reader gets attached to them immediately. The Donovan and Sharpe families are realistic and display an authentic emotional depth that is characteristic of Neggers' work. Father Finian Bracken is convincing and strong and the Russians, including Tatiana Pavlova, a young jewelry designer who sets the case rolling, are all superbly portrayed. The settings are exquisitely presented. You can almost smell the salt air of Maine and feel the mists of Ireland. And Neggers prose is beyond reproach. It's smoothness and flow are enough to lead a reader to the next page, not to mention the tension of the story. This is a great and satisfying read, not to be missed!

Terrible

I have loved many of Carlas books, but this was a far cry from those. The story makes no sense and 2/3rds of the book is completely irrelevant to the plot. Cannot believe I wasted my money.

Highly Recommend- you must check it out

Anyone who likes Carla Neggers books will love this one. If you read Saint's Gate where Emma Sharpe and Colin Donovan first come together yoy'll their continued story in Heron's Cove. I do hope the author continues this series with the rest of the Donovan brothers. I would recommend this book.

Carla Neggers is one of my favorite authors. I can't wait until her next book comes out. Heron's Cove is a great story - mystery, romance and great characters. I loved it.

As usual, Carla Neggers doesn't disappoint. The character development and suspenseful storyline is so good.
