Impressive-Romantic Thriller
This is the first novel I have read by Karen Harper, and it will not be the last! The plot keeps you locked into the story, and the characters are sweet and real. You feel like your watching the story unfold while reading; that makes this a GREAT novel. At first I wasn't sure how I would feel about the novel because I have a selection of favorites already, but Harper is now with the favorable authors I already have! This novel is a great romantic thirller, and you find your self sliently applauding at the end! I reccomend this to anyone who likes the romantic thriller genre!

action-packed romantic suspense
Finders Keepers private investigator Tara Kinsale awakens after months in a coma to a series of deep stress shockers. First she learns that her best friend Alexis was murdered. Second, that she had been named guardian of Alexis¿ daughter Claire as the father is a rat who deserted his then wife and child for another woman. Third Claire's uncle, Nick McMahon has arrived from military duty in Afghanistan to raise his niece. Fourth her own spouse divorced her and remarried. Finally, she learns from her doctor that she gave birth while in the coma. As Tara struggles to bring the parts together into a cohesive package, she agrees to help Nick and Claire become a family. She makes inquires into her lost nine months especially the infant she birthed, but some unknown person wants her to remain either ignorant or dead. --- This action-packed romantic suspense hooks the audience from the moment Tara opens her eyes to learn one stunner after another starting with the memory of how she became comatose until the final confrontation. The story line is fast-paced though at times overly angst laden with so much pressure on Tara. Still this is an exciting thriller as the past still haunts the heroine¿s present. --- Harriet Klausner

Just okay....
Read this book and I agree with a previous review...it was very predictable. The concept was good but I figured it out after the first few chapters. If your looking for an easy read, this is the book for you.

Hallmark Drama
The Hiding Place was a simple mystery, pretty predictable and a bit over dramatic. Sort of like a Hallmark channel movie, but still likable. The author did a lot of telling rather than showing-- explaining a character's entire history in dialogue, which was actually quite comical without meaning to be. But that's why I sometimes watch a sappy, predictable, drama on Hallmark--for laughs. It was still a fairly good story and a quick read for the cheap price that I purchased it for.
If predictable, easy to solve mysteries appeal to you and you enjoy watching characters overact on the Hallmark channel, you will like this story.2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

Predictable
After chapter 3 I wrote down my prediction for the story and it was spot on. By no means a great literary work (and even worse editing) -- but a good mindless read. Editing was so bad that in some places there were missing words -- and in one place they even had a character "think" something and that character wasn't even part of the scene!!!
I'm not likely to pay for another book by this author but would be a fine free read or $.99 special.2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

Keeps you Reading
This is one of those books you don't want to stop reading! You want to find out what happens. You could figure out some of the plot as you read but still wanted to find out how it all worked together. The author keeps the same pace throughout the book.

Kept me interested !
I had read the other reviews and thought I'd give it a try. I"m glad I did. While I could see the ending fairly early that did not stop me from enjoying the ride. And the twists and turns at the end were well written.
Good read for a lazy afternoon!2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

Absolutely Spellbinding
This is another one of Harper's great writings! She holds your attention so well you find it hard to put the book down till you are finished. Her characters are so real you can visualize everything that is happening.

Can you say Predictable?
This is one of those books that bore you because you can figure out the "villain" almost before you open the book. I was highly disappointed in the overall book. However, the concept (tracking dog/PI agency) was kind of cool. The tie-in with Afghanistan? Stop. I figured out where her baby was the minute I read that her ex had remarried. Really very lame. I would SO NOT recommend buying this book (like I did). It should be offered as a free book and used in case you run out of books and there's a power failure and you are unable to access the internet. A BACKUP BOOK AT BEST.

A great thriller
This book was so exciting and the plots were great. Kept you guessing till the end. Interesting part of this book was learning all about the family secrets and the lives they destroyed and how it ends up in the end. Worth the read..

Meh
Karen Harper is a new author that I decided to try out. This book first and foremost is a fast read, I read it in two days, but could have read it in one if I wanted to. I thought the story was interesting even though in parts it felt like too much of a narrative and lack of spark to the dialogue, but I still found it enjoyable and engaging.

My little beef I had with the book is I didn't find the plot to be too hard to figure out, in fact, after about 30 pages I had already guessed the outcome as it is very much predictable. Another thing that bothered me was the writing style, I can't explain it but sometimes the way some sentences read I had to re-read them a few times. Another little thing that bothered me was a little bit of typo's and errors in some of the sentence structures and punctuation.
Overall I would recommend this to people as it was a little bit suspensful, but nothing to the likes of Dean Koontz. Still go read it anyways, it's good -

A Good Book but Predictable At Times
This was the first book that I have read for Karen Harper. I was pleasantly surprised. I was able to get into the story line pretty fast. Like others have said there was part of the storyline that were predictable. This book was still a great read, and I would recommend it.

A quick read for a rainy day or any day.
This book was not the best book I had read, but it was not the worse either. It was a quick easy read. I was extremely happy with the ending.

Was OK....
I figured out the ending half way through. It was an ok read. Not as thrilling as it was billed to be. I did not care for the writing style that much. Like one part where the main character's friend states "I might not look like an attorney-at-law..." No one really talks like this in real life and a lot of the lines in the book were like that. Were kind of high school. Maybe the next one of hers I try will be better?

You won't be able to put your book or nook down!
A great book! This was the first Karen Harper book I've read and I was hooked! I have since purchased or downloaded samples of all of her books on my nook! This book will keep you guessing about who done it and your heart will go out to Tara, Claire, Nick, and "Danny"! This is definitely a book I'll read more than once...
