Fangtastic...
I read the whole Twilight Saga and the whole Sookie Stackhouse series, so i wanted a new book to read and bought this one. This book is good fix when you are like me and wanted more on the whole Vampires wanting more blood, sex and violence. I would not recommend this book to anyone 18 years or younger. It has a LOT of adult content in it, so if you are a prude this book is not for you either....a very easy read..

Feisty, thrill seeking novel
This book introduces the concept of vampires for neophites that deal with the underworld. A great sister read. Not boring, packed with action, adventure, and sexual excitement.

I just got the book less than 3 hours ago and I already read the entire thing. It had me laughing like a loony all by myself. I'm glad that I bought the other two that go with it. I can't wait to read them as well. If you want something funny, sexy, and fast paced this is your book!

Fun Read
I must admit that I'm the kind that is wary of authors I haven't read. But I needed something to read and this author kept catching my eye, so I said what the heck. I was so glad that I did. This book is a fun read. The plot was cute and the characters had lines that actually made me laugh. I am hooked and plan on purchasing the next books in the series. Definitely would recommend.

Great characters, very humorous, falls short on plot though
I had to grudgingly admit (this is coming from someone who runs away from the romance shelves) I actually liked this book. Alexis is a great likable character; she's got wit, she's stubborn as an ox, she knows how to fight back (literally), and her sense of humor is hilarious. With a main character like that, it was thanks to her that got me so interested in this book I read at least more than half of it in one morning and then finished it the next day.

The plot was all right. It does follow the typical romance genre standard plot line but the characters are likable and engaging and they provided so much entertainment, I found myself chuckling a couple of times because of Alexis and Ethan and how they felt about each other at first, and their banter was extremely entertaining. Although the sub-plot of several of Ethan's enemies trying to oust him from running for President is interesting, I actually wished they focused more on that plot instead of having to spotlight the main couple all the time. It left me with a lot of questions and now that certain events now happened regarding some of his enemies, I really want to know what's going to happen next. What bugged me was, although they were some trying to kill Ethan, it seemed as if both Ethan and Alexis didn't really care, they were too busy being in love with each other - which caused me to roll my eyes in frustration. Yes, I do realize this is a romance novel, but the intrigue plot is so interesting, why give that up to showcase the couple? wouldn't the plot to kill Ethan be just as exciting?
I also liked the plot with Brittany and Corbin. I thought they made such a cute couple and I was actually wanting more of those two instead of Ethan and Alexis, sure they were fun to read, but as soon as the "mushy stuff" came in, I just wanted them to move on and wanted to learn more about Corbin and his "research". Although Brittany strikes me a terribly naive and a little on the ditzy side, you can't help but like her because it's like she doesn't have a bad thought for anybody and nothing seems to ruin her day. She's such an exact opposite of Alexis but it's nice to see, so at least you don't see the book through eyes of one side all the time.
There are love scenes for those that enjoy that sort of thing, I particularly don't care much for them, so those were skipped. They do become more frequent as Alexis and Ethan are closer together towards the end of the book. It does get old, and tiring and the plot just remains stagnant with those two. I do admit, they do make a nice couple. (Although upto the point where they got mushy I switched to preferring Brittany and Corbin). The other problem I do have is it was predictable in some parts. Oh well. I actually expected that in this story. It wasn't bad enough to ruin my enjoyment of the novel.
Overall, it was a nice light read despite some pitfalls. I was able to tolerate it and I enjoyed it because of such entertaining characters. The story and plot could have used some work though. Those that love romance with vampires in it, give this a try. It's on the light side so don't expect things to get too dark. -

Good, easy read
Good charater development and original view of vampires. There is a lot a lot of sex. Not a science fiction vampire book. More of a romance novel where the characters happen to be vampires. But, it's a good, quick read.

Fun and Sexy!
These books are definitely not for young girls - but the older ones will appreciate the steamy love scenes. I really enjoyed this series, but you have to go into it knowing that they are just quick, fun reads.

Quickie Book: but not for younger readers
So basically, if this book was made into a movie, it would be a porn-o. The story line is somewhat interesting, but the main focus of the book is the sex scenes. The story line itself is weak, it ends with a ton of loose ends and unanswered questions. However, this is the first book of the series, so maybe they wrap up the loose ends in the other books (but based on the descriptions of the other books, they do not.) It is a very easy read: I started it Friday night and was finished by Saturday afternoon.

not exactly maryjanice davidson
i picked up this book thinking it would be funny and cute like mary janice davidson's novels. i've really liked erin mccarthy's other books, like heiress for hire, but this one disappointed. it was just not that good. i read it and then didn't want to pick it up again. i would rent not own.

AWESOME BOOK!!
I love Ethan, Alexis, and Brittany!! They are all very real characters and I love them. Alexis is awesome how tough she is, and Ethan is jsut the best for loveing her that way! Brittany is so sweet and innocent, but not dumb. The plot was marvelous and it just kept me wanting more. The 'sex'wasn't jsut sex, it was more, it had real passion and love, which was a huge plus for me. This was the first I read from Erin, and I am glad to say, she has gained yet another adoring reader. I can't wait to buy her other books!!! Great job Erin, keep it up!!

Disappointing
I usually love Erin McCarthy's work...but I was disappointed in this book. Things like vampires and blood drinking gross me out. I couldn't get into it.
