    I Also Recommend:

    The Butterfly Effect

I took a chance on this author and I wasn't disappointed. Another reviewer mentioned Bryanna's disconnect from humanity and I believe that is the point. She is not human. To be honest I found her human disconnection very refreshing. If you are looking for a touch-feely novel, this certainly is not it. The heroine is hilarious and reminds me of Jezebel from Jackie Kessler's Hells Belles series. This was a fantastic book. It had a "feel good" vibe about it. I am not into religion and I don't usually care to read books that favor anyone religion over another. I decided to see this story a little differently by not associating the "Christian god" but seeing god as another entity and His and Lucifer's' realms as other worlds who monitor and influence the earth. Sought of like the earth is the fish swimming in their pond. However, even though earth/humans are swimming in Lucifer and God's ponds who's to say that their realms aren't swimming in another entities pond of their own? Sought of like those Russians dolls that contain dolls within dolls within dolls or looking in two opposing mirrors and seeing reflection within reflection within reflection. While in the middle of this book I instantly knew I was going to read the next book. I thought a book about redemption would be a bit weak and goodie-goodie. I couldn't have been more wrong. The heroine is looking for redemption, however, she does not apologize for the heinous acts of violence she reeks on the vermin-bowels of humanity. For a first book in a series, this intro book was superbly done. I highly recommend this book to fellow dark urban fantasy readers and look forward to reading the next book, Concrete Savoir.

    Loved this book

It is interesting that this book garners so many reviews from both ends of the spectrum (love love or hate hate!) I am on the love side. Way love. Tons of love. Much love. There wasn't a single thing I didn't like about this book. I rated it a while ago but didn't put up a review for some reason. I reread the book today and remembered how much I lurved it! I read the second one again as well and it was just as good as I remembered. I hope she comes out with more in this unique, interesting world. There is a lot of character development, an interesting plot and great world building.

A new, fresh take on urban fantasy brings characters, and the genre, a breath of new life. High praise for Yvonne Nvarro for her outlook on a genre that seems to have hit a rut!
Highborn brings all the magic and action that urban fantasy readers seek, and twists it into a religious viewpoint, from a perspective one doesn't find but in the most compelling of stories.
Her eye for detail and ease of transition ensure that this book is not only a fun read, but also easy to follow, without the inevitable mental whiplash one finds in many demon/angel related stories.
Five stars, heading into book 2 now with high hopes and eager eyes.

Some parts were good some were boring.

I really wanted to give this book a 4 star rating. The book was good when describing the characters and world building but the character dialogue was lacking. I felt as if there were too many supporting characters.

These characters were all written in first person so the switch between scenes and characters were confusing.

This book is full of action and has a little hint at some romance.
