    terrific eleventh century historical romance

In 1077 Englishwoman Evelyn Godewin, knowing she needs to start life over, agrees to escort elderly Minerva Buchanan who wants to go home to the Highlands to die. However, instead of stopping on Buchanan land, Minevera takes them to the estates of the MacKerrick, specifically Ronan who she whispers she is coming to him just before she dies. Eve has no time to grief or to ponder what next as savage wolves attack her while she is in a forest. To her shock a wolf she names Alinor saves her life and escorts her to a haven a nearby cottage. --- Highland chieftain Conall MacKerrick grieves the deaths of his wife and child he beleievs his family curse killed them so he runs away from his clan to hide in his forest cottage. He is shocked to find an occupant and demands she leave immediately. Desperate to stay, Eve lies to him claiming she is Clan Buchanan considered the key element in breaking the MacKerrick curse. As they fall in love, Eve knows she must tell him the truth that she is not the right blood to end the curse. THE HIGHLANDER is a terrific eleventh century historical romance starring two seemingly opposites with a lot more in common than they realize at first look falling in love. The Evelyn is a dedicated person whose courage and strength fascinate Conall (and readers). However, he is the more interesting protagonist as he struggles with a curse that haunts him and his clan even as he wonders if she is the destined one to save them. Heather Grothaus provides a wonderfully exciting uplifting tale of love. --- Harriet Klausner

    Awsome

Evelyn Godewin returns to her homeland hoping to find a new beginning but she must find the courage to live through a very hard winter. While recovering from a fall she has the great pleasure to meet Conall MacKerrick who is running from his own troubles. He thinks his clan is cursed! When he meets Evelyn and she lies to him he thinks she will be the cure to the curse from many many years ago. The pledge themselves to each other but when the truth is learned about the lies they have told each other, they go seperate ways. Will Evelyn and Conan learn to trust each other to share the love they have. What about the babe she carries? Will than change things? I loved the third and final book in this series just like I did the first two. Each can stand on their own but if read them as a series you will not be disappointed. Be sure to get this one for you will put it on your shelf of keepers. Heather Grothaus is a very talented writer and I cannot wait for her next book.

I just love her books. The characters are amazing and lots of surprises, with a bit of magic. A must read.

not worth the time to read

Wow! what a stupid book!! the only way you could enjoy this book is if you like cry baby men and a woman who is a control freak. She is mean and blames the main character for everything. I would never recommend this book to anyone, it was written really badly.

Cute and fluffy read but not too sappy.

I actually found this to be a good story. There was a few momemts of unnessasary drama but the overall pace of the book was good. Very nice steamy scenes but not overly raunchy - more of a passionate, sweer feel. Would recommend this book to everyone.
