    I Also Recommend:

Oh Higurashi, you creepy, creepy and did I mention creepy anime you were. Your theme songs are awesome though. Anyway, can't believe it took me this long to finally get around to reading the manga. So I'm guessing here and that throughout, it'll be a different arc but same characters. Somewhat similiar to American Horror Story then? I was in the mood for a creepy manga and so after reading Doubt and Judge, figure why not give Higurashi a read. While reading this, I thought back to the anime and its creepy moments. Oh the creepy moments. Yeah not a good idea reading this at night. Still, it kind of, the keyword being, kind of, makes me want to revisit the anime. Once was enough. All in all, pretty good and of course creepy start.

    a must have

one of the best mangas, with a great suspense story, the full color pages is a god detail.
has some minor inconsistencies in the art work but not a big deal.

Not the best, but a solid offering.

As a fan of the Higurashi games (and accompanying anime series) I was quite excited to read this first English-language publication of the manga. It's not perfect, but it's still a quite decent offering.

My only real complaint is with the artwork, which at times can seem a bit amateurish. Since one of Higurashi's greatest traits is the way situations can change from idyllic and carefree to nail-bitingly terrifying, I'm sure the artist didn't want to betray too much of the horror to come by adopting a darker tone throughout -- but still I feel the art could do with a bit more polish. Hopefully the art style will improve somewhat in future releases, so as to do proper justice to the addictive roller-coaster ride of a story.

The volume is well put together. The original Japanese SFX are left in place, with small "subtitle"-like translations underneath. There's a small glossary at the back for some possibly unfamiliar terms. A few pages containing one particularly dramatic scene are in full color, which is a nice touch. Overall the book is a good quality presentation.

I recommend this manga to both dedicated Higurashi fans, who may be looking to take in yet another slightly different presentation of the story, and to fans of thriller/suspense/horror/mystery manga in general.
