    Family Farce

From the very first paragraph (the best description of a rainstorm I've ever read) I was completely enthralled with the Hills at Home. Coming from an equally large klan I relished the many similarities of living within a close knit(and sometimes not)family. I found myself laughing out loud while reading the book on a recent plane flight. The humor is subtle on the page but hilarious in the imagination of the reader. As I read the last paragraph I was already missing having the Hills around. Hopefully, Ms Clark is a fast writer- I can hardly wait for the next installment.

Sidetracked extended family regain their bearings in a year of living together.

Wonderful characters in a slow, meandering story. Clark developed a great sense of place where you can smell the aroma of baking from the crowded kitchen as you sneeze at the years of accumulated dust in the crannies of the ancestral home. Although I did find the narrative sometimes too slow, the overall entwining of characters, plot and setting is masterful.

    Slow story, dull characters

There is way too much description that is unnecessary and drags the story out in this novel. The characters are pretty flat. I did not really care what happened to any of them. In my opinion, don't waste your time reading this book.
