    Excellent Reading

Author William J. Duiker¿s book, ¿Ho Chi Minh: A Life¿ is masterful piece of research into a world few in the West ever knew existed. Born Nguyen Sinh Cung on May 19, 1880, Duiker follows Ho through his youth and education, his trip to New York City where he worked as a chief¿s assistant at the famed Carlton Hotel, his failed attempts to obtain recognition for his county at Versailles following the end of World War I, and finally, his emersion in revolutionary politics in Stalinist Russia, out which would come the man destined to be a player on the world stage.

    Should be required reading

This book should be required reading for anyone studying the Vietnam War or the history of the 20th century. It is erudite but readable. Suitable for the scholar and amatuer alike.

    A Masterpiece

William Duiker, is by far an authority on the life and the works of Ho Chi Minh. He knows more about Ho Chi Minh than most Vietnamese in Vietnam and abroad. An excellent text along with Stanley Karnow, 'Vietnam: A History.'

A breakthrough biography of Ho Chi Minh

Here's a great biography packed with information on Ho Chi Minh. The book is a great read. The author has done painstaking research to give us a book that adds substantially to understanding our most controversial war by understanding this man who came to be the symbol of Vietnamese communism. After reading this book we are free to draw our own conclusions but this book adds a wealth of knowledge for us to make decisions on what this man meant to the history of Vietnam.
