Nate is amazing at combining textures & colors.
I am in the process of redecorating my master bedroom. I hit a wall when it came to the best colors. As soon as I opened Nate's book 'Home Rules' I discovered the perfect color combination for my room. More importantly, I can now see how important it is to combine different textures in my bedroom to make it a peaceful retreat. Thanks for sharing your talents. You CAN judge a book by it's cover--the yummy author is a delightful, friendly, inviting, inspiration to those who have seen him on the Oprah show. The book is informative with lots of clear pictures of distance and close up shots with hand-drawn text suggesting improvements to items in the room. The font seems larger than the standard 12 and the spacing makes the page easy to read. There are lots of suggestions for different scenarios e.g., small spaces, use of color, an inspiration section, and tips on organization--to name a few. If you put it on your coffee table, people will know what you did to your space, so I scored that lower, but in reality it is a book that your friends will want too. I highly recommend it!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

ran right out to pick up a copy...
I was so excited to learn about the release of this book I ran right out and bought a copy the first day it hit the shelves. I have been a fan of Nate since his first appearance on Oprah and my fondness for him grew after learning of his heartbreaking loss. Nate is a hero I'm proud to hold in high esteme! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

Interesting concept, but failed effort
I had a lot of high hopes for this book. Nate has an interesting style and I was hoping there would be lots of simple ideas in this book. If you like looking at Nate, there are plenty of pictures of him. But my problem with this book is two fold. First, there are lots of basic, 101 ideas in here about decorating that anyone with a basic sense of style would understand. Second, there are lots of recycled photos from O at Home magazine for an original book, that's not cool. I don't hate this book, but I just didn't learn anything from it.Was this review helpful?
