Different than the other self help books

I started to read the book thinking that there probably wasnt much I would learn from yet another book on living life to the fullest. I was so "off base"! The way Kevin Myers presents the concept of running the bases is real, to the point and easy to understand and apply. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who's tired of the old analogies for living a better life. This book presents things based on true events and adds just the right amount of humor, reality and creativity to make ot a true hit.

Chapters 1 and 2 lay the groundwork but from Chapter 3 on it is a clear, concise guide on how to live a  Godly life.  So wish I had this book when I was younger!

I have not finished the book yet, but so far the quote that most

I have not finished the book yet, but so far the quote that most sticks out in my mind is that "God doesn't owe you, He OWNS you."  When the Apostle Paul in Romans 12:1-2, appeals to the readers to present their bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, he isn't merely referring to readers' physical bodies, he is referring to their entire being.  If we are willing to surrender our entire being and live or die in whatever way that God wants, since He OWNS us, we are in a place where God can really transform us and renew our minds.  By living for God, we will discover what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I have been a Christian for 18 years and sought God through reading the entire many times, prayer, fasting, sermons, books, classes, fellowship, etc.  However, this book has made me see the scriptures in a new way.  I realize now that while I sought God, I also wanted things my way.

I am sharing the book with my adult son and we have both had Holy Spirit encounters from reading this book.  I can't wait to finish the book and see what other insights about God I can learn.

P.S.  If you want to read an excellent translation (thought for thought) of Romans 12:1-2 read the translation in The Message.

What real author/writer encourages his flock to go on social media and protest that the book isn't on the NYT Best Seller list?
