This book far exceeeded my expectations! Even though it was written by the person it happened to it was hard to see what more could be said after all that's been written about this case already. Well, it turns out there was plenty more to be said! This book is like sitting down with Raffaele and hearing him tell you what happened. He is painfully honest about his feelings and disgust about what was done to Meredith. He tells of his time in prison and how a young, innocent man dealt with the hardened criminals he had to live with. You feel all of his confusion about how this could happen to someone who did nothing wrong and he tells of the pressure he was under from all sides to save himself and stop worrying about Amanda. The most surprising thing of all is that his insistance on standing his ground came not out of some massive, crazy love for Amanda but from his deep sense of right and wrong and his adamance about doing the right thing and maintaining the truth. You come away feeling bittersweet, happy and sad all at once but most importantly, it gave me new faith that there are still young people of great integrity and honor! Absolutely excellent book!
