Must Read Book to Understand Current Economic Situation
This book is stellar in its actionable insight and content for readers who want to understand how we've all been "hoodwinked" by corporatocracy and how to change it for the better in the future.
Fantastic book.4 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

Hoodwinked
I was really amazed when reading this book that these things actually go on. OK, call me naive but the thought that our government and large corporations send businessmen (ie hitmen) to other countries with the sole intention of conning them into giving us their natural resources and going into debt just disgusts me.
John Perkins really opens readers eyes to what's going on in the global market. He gives an insight into the global meltdown that many people haven't previously considered. He discusses how just a few large corporations own much of the capital, land and resources around the world and he talks about how these corporations influence and control our politicians.
The second part of Hoodwinked talks about the solution to the problem. He discusses how we can create a healthy economy that encourages businesses to act responsibly and by doing this to create a more sustainable world.
I think this is a really valuable book for people to read. It will truly open your eyes to the ways our government and corporations work and it will get you thinking about ways to fix capitalism. I do agree with John Perkins. I think capitalism can be fixed and I think it's a worthy system that deserves to be fixed.3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

New World Order
Great grasp of the economic realities of why we are where we are. In my opinion, a bit utopian (unfortunately) in the suggested remedy which is supposed to fix everything. But, hey! At least he suggests a remedy. Guess we citizens should've worried more when Daddy Bush talked about the U.S. entering a "new world order" -- with the U.S.A. no longer in first place. I still believe in the functionality of Keynesian Economics and wonder why we ever left this economic philosophy. Too many citizens didn't take economics in college and believe everything that's fed them by media and politicians.

Corporate environmental and human abuses exposed for all to see!
John Perkins is the proverbial thorn that continually pricks corporate irresponsibility and exposes it for all to see.
Alex Carey years ago pointed out that the 20th century most likely will be remembered by historians for the growth of democracy, the growth of corporate power, and the growth of corporate propaganda to protect corporate power against democracy.
Here is only a part of what Carey and now, John Perkins are telling us:
Point 1: Under US law corporations are equal to individuals but individuals are not equal to corporations. Corporations are favored with tax laws that allow debt interest to be deducted from taxes. Individuals, as consumers, cannot deduct that interest.. The reasoning is businesses must profit in order to employ Americans.
Point 2: An adjustment in Congressional thinking has not yet occurred even though Wall Street has repeatedly rewarded corporations for downsizing and moving jobs out of the US to lower wage countries. Where do these corporations think American consumers will get the money to buy their products if the jobs are no longer here?
Point 3: Perkins points out that the World Bank and IMF have taken control, through debt service, of the environmental and economic conditions in underdeveloped countries. What good is it to have new roads, bridges, indoor plumbing, and air conditioning in a South American country where the people have no money and no jobs to pay for it?
Perkins is a hero for revealing the truth. Read his books and you will know what to do!2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.
