This is a great book and a fun story to read. It should be in every classroom and children should read this one snuggled up in bed at night. There are great characters and a fun story line. It shows you that even children can have opinions and make a difference! The baby owls will be killed because of the construction that is moving in to make a pancake house. How will the community, specifically the kids help these small helpless creatures. This is a book that you don't want to miss. The movie is good, the book is better.

Hoot Is a Intresting, Intense, brain- igniting book, full of intresting events, like when Roy's Daad works for the government, and he still his friend, illegaly go destroy a building site for Mother Paula's All americnan pancake house, to save the owl's. He tries to tell the company that there is a endangerd breed of animals on their property that they will kill, but they just recive a cheesy letter in the mail. Although this book is great because no matter what they have to do, nothing will stop them from saving those Owl's.

When the law gets involved, there are so many distractions to make their cause. They have guards and police, and dogs gaurding the construction site, which is making saving the owl's get in the way of saving the owl's

    Hoot: Carl Hiaasen

This book was not the greatest. In my opinion it was not so great at all to write about trying to save a small piece of land from being bull- dozed for a diner all because of a couple owls living there. No person wants to hear about trying to save a couple owls when you could hear about the top story in the newspaper. There are more animals than owls that loose more land than an acre, other animals loose miles of land to loggers but no author writes about that. The story might have made more sense if they wouldnt split the story in different pieces. At one time they would talk about saving owls, and at another time they would talk about a kid getting bullied.I wouldnt recommened this book to very many people. If your going to write a story, at least write about what average people want to hear.

    Doesn't meet expectations

I know many people would desagree with what I'm saying, especally my friend, but this was the worst book I've ever read. The movie was a lot better, which is NOT a good thing.

    Hoot

I gave this title a rating of 2 because it does not have much to do with the book but he does have some owls in the book but the funny thing is in the book when the owls are hooting they say coo-coo not hoot. I thought the book was ok but I would not choose to read it on my own.

    Um...

I didn't enjoy it too much. I usually read books 2, maybe 3 times. I only read Hoot once. Maybe it would have been better if the middle school was more realistic. Was this book written by a old dude? I think maybe it shoulda been written by an actual middle schooler!!
