Enjoyable series. Kudos to authors who self-publish. You are brave. Judging from what is out there from major publishers, editors seem unable to choose works that appeal to the people outside of the big city! A few typos here and there but I find myself captured by the...
Enjoyable series. Kudos to authors who self-publish. You are brave. Judging from what is out there from major publishers, editors seem unable to choose works that appeal to the people outside of the big city! A few typos here and there but I find myself captured by the story and unable to stop reading. Also, I do not know this author I found the first book in the series while exploring with my Nook. Captivating storyline!

Good story

Writing is pretty good but desperately needs an editor Would love to know rest of the story but cannot take the ridiculous punctuation

    Hmmm

The story is simplistic but fun, as are the characters. Enjoyable read, though. What's been driving me to distraction, though is the poor editing, grammar & punctuation throughout. There are a few places where the same sentence shows up a few times in a row, or a sentence ends somewhat strangely and is picked up a few lines later. Really? We couldn't hire an editor that a) could speak/read/write English or b) actually paid attention to what they were doing?

Second book in the series-lots of plot twists (some you can figure out), but still entertaining. A little disappointed that the Author has teenagers drinking as if it is totally acceptable.

I really enjoyed the Star-Crossed series, though all four books

I really enjoyed the Star-Crossed series, though all four books desperately need an editor. My deduction in scoring is primarily for the quality of the final product. If an author wants us to buy books, the least she should do is get her work professionally edited. I mean really, "preface" instead of "pretense", to say nothing of the numerous misplaced words throughout the draft?

All that aside, the story was well-told, the characters mostly believable, and the action well-paced. One major exception: the king was pretty cheesy - he reminded me of a spoiled kid or a Disney villain: his "I can do whatever I want because I'm the king..." attitude grew a little tedious. If he'd had a slightly more believable justification for his craziness, this series would have been much better. I also could have done without any hint of a love triangle, but maybe I'm alone in this opinion.

Eden makes a fun, sassy heroine, though I generally find 1st-person narration tedious, and, in the case of a teenage main character, childish. This series would have been that much better written from a 3rd-person limited perspective, perhaps focused exclusively on Eden the way Harry Potter focuses just on Harry's emotions and thoughts. I also enjoyed the descriptions of magic, though I'd have liked a little bit more on the consequences of using magic. It wasn't clear to me if the Immortals all had just an endless supply of magic always at their beck and call.
