I was hooked from the very beginning. Walsh made it clear from the beginning that this was not an ordinary terror strike. It was not until the very end that all of the pieces fit together.

I loved all of the prototype technology, which could very well already be in use. I did have to go back occasionally and re-read something to help clarify what was actually going on. But, that was probably because I was so intent on finding out what was going to happen that I didn't pay enough attention. I don't consider that a flaw in writing style but rather a flaw in my reading.

The fact that I cared enough to really understand what was happening at every level is a testament to how much I enjoyed the story and the characters.

This book was a terrible attempt at the Vince Flynn type thriller. At times, I found myself skipping entire sections that bored me. The NSA agent that is the main character is not believable and not likeable. I read the book through page 130 which resolved one subplot, and was not interested enough in the overall plot to continue. This book takes the intrigue and mystery of the CIA/NSA agent way overboard to a point that feels unrealistic. I could not find myself attached in any way to any characters and could care less what happens to them.

    Does get out there

I agree the plot just keeps going more down the rabbit hole of unbelievability.

    Confusing plot why bother.

Tempted not to complete the read. Lacks credibility.

OK story that rambles in many spots

The plot line was good, but the story dragged through many parts and sometimes just didn't make a lot of sense. I did get through the whole book, but there are better ones out there.

    Too Full of Cliches

Hostile Intent has potential but is way over-written. This is just too unbelievable in it's technologies, too many cliches, and just over-the-top in it's attempt to be "black ops". The character has potential but I won't be reading any more in this series. It was difficult to stay with and get through.

I do like this genre and don't expect it to be accurate, but at least in the realm of believable or at least entertaining enough to make up the difference. This, in my opinion, was neither.
